H2H ROUND-6: LCD & Viewfinder

LCD Screen (Nikon wins) - Viewing in the playback mode is, of course, affected by the size and resolution of the LCD screen. The Nikon Coolpix L19 has the clear advantage in this department. Its screen is 2.7 inches, as opposed to the FE-25’s screen size of 2.5 inches, and gives a clearer image with its 230,000 pixels. The Olympus FE-25, however, has a skimpy 112,000 pixels that gives subjects a blocky look with stair-step edges. Even worse, the Olympus has some kind of coating on its screen that makes it reflect its surroundings instead of showing what’s really on the screen; this makes it tough to view on a sunny day. Both cameras can be viewed at wide angles when held to the side, but neither can be seen when held above or below the head. Some pricier digital cameras have screens with wider views, but this limited range is typical on $109 cameras. Just between the two cams, the Nikon has the better LCD screen.
