Exposure Modes (Nikon L19 wins) - Each digital camera has plenty of automated modes to toy with. Here’s the rundown:

Nikon Coolpix L19 Olympus FE-25
Auto, Easy Auto, Movie, Smile, Portrait, Landscape, Sports, Night Portrait, Party/indoor, Beach/snow, Sunset, Dusk/dawn, Night Landscape, Close-up, Food, Museum, Fireworks show, Copy, Backlight, Panorama Assist Program, iAuto, Digital Image Stabilization, Movie, Portrait, Landscape, Night Scene, Night + Portrait, Sport, Indoor, Candle, Self Portrait, Sunset, Fireworks, Cuisine, Documents

Both cameras differentiate between a fully automatic mode (Easy Auto and iAuto, respectively) and a slightly more advanced mode (Auto and Program) that offers manual adjustments to settings like exposure compensation, ISO, and white balance. Of note are the Smile and Panorama Assist modes on the Nikon L19; these are not had on the Olympus. The Smile mode doesn’t require you to actually push the shutter release button; all it requires is a smile. After plenty of fun testing, this feature passes with flying colors. It actually works. The L19’s Panorama Mode does not stitch the images together in the camera itself, like some cameras do, but it provides a frame within the LCD and allows you to see an overlay of the previously taken image in order to line it up with the next. The Olympus FE-25 does not have a dedicated Panorama mode, but it has a “panorama” option in its menu system that provides the framework on the LCD (although no overlay to help line the images up).
