H2H ROUND-6: Viewfinder

The E-620's "traditional" optical viewfinder

The Olympus E-620 is the traditionally styled DSLR that includes an eye-level single lens reflex viewfinder. It is only 95 percent accurate with .96x magnification, so it isn’t the brightest OVF on the market, but it provides a more battery-efficient option to the live view LCD screen (along with 'true' SLR autofocus).

Basic shooting info appears in the viewfinder itself – shutter speed, aperture, exposure mode, battery level, metering, ISO, and how many exposures are left on the memory card. The rest of the shooting data is displayed on the LCD screen (unless the live view is in use and then the info is cluttered around the edges of the screen).

The E-P1’s viewfinder is an optional accessory that will set you back a hundred bucks. If you’re interested in the newer E-P2, that includes the viewfinder as part of the standard package. The optional viewfinder is electronic and has 15 brightness level adjustments as well as a color balancing tool. It is 100 percent accurate.

Because the E-620’s viewfinder is included, it’s taking an easy win here.
