Relative sensor dimensions - Canon's CMOS sensors

It was surprising how much we enjoyed shooting with the smaller sensors, just because of the automatic enhancement of the telephoto. Switching from the two APS sensors to the full 35mm sensor of the 5D MII was disappointing. Not wanting to change lenses, we had to move in closer to get the same crop, losing a bit of the nice, flattering short telephoto look. Funny, but an often forgotten benefit of a high-resolution, smaller sensor- you get an automatically longer lens effect, shallower depth of field because of that, as well as an automatically enhanced macro effect.
