LCD: Olympus 1050 SW
The Pentax W60 has a 2.5-inch LCD screen with 230,000 pixels. The Olympus 1050 SW ups the ante with its 2.7-inch LCD screen. It has the same resolution spread across a slightly bigger screen.

Both screens look great – in fact, the cameras’ images look better on the LCD screens than they do loaded onto a larger computer screen. The Pentax’s LCD brightens images in the playback mode (as compared to the live view) and seems to embellish colors a bit (don’t worry, it’s a pleasant embellishment). While in the live view, the Olympus 1050 SW’s LCD was brighter. Both cameras have brightness controls for their LCD screens. The Olympus 1050 SW has a +/- 2 range while the Pentax W60 has a +/- 3 range. They get equally dark, but the Olympus gets slightly brighter when both are turned up to their brightest settings.

Both cameras’ LCDs have exceptionally wide views – side to side and when held above and below the head. The Pentax has a purple cast when the sun shines on it; perhaps this is supposed to be an anti-glare coating. It doesn’t work as well as the Olympus’ anti-glare though, which does its job a little better and without the purple tint.
