H2H ROUND-3: Ease-of-Use

H2H USER SCORE
View Official Scorecard

With software, ease-of-use is often a two-part question: how intuitive it is right out of the box, and how logical does it become in time, once you have become familiar with it.

Generally, Pelican Software’s Yearbook! 2010 software is lean, simple, and functional. Its layout is minimalist, with everything in a logical place. Its design bears the marks of longevity and refinement. LumaPix YearbookFusion, on the other hand, presents for a robust, full-featured album platform that strives to meet the top tier design standards of Illustrator, Photoshop, In Design, etc. YearbookFusion’s workspace is rich in controls and offers a multi-dimensional platform that becomes more logical and versatile with exploration.

The complexity of the LumaPix platform will be a hurdle some users (particularly elementary school students) may want to forgo. However, those looking for complete control (photo manipulation, nuanced RGB channel alteration in shadows) should look no further; they will only grow to like YearbookFusion more with continued use and discovery. Having said that, users should expect a much steeper learning curve with LumaPix than Pelican.
