Kodak Announces Ultrazoom, 2 Compacts

Kodak unveiled two new digital cameras in a press release today, and quietly debuted a third on its product web site. The ultra-zoom EasyShare Z950 and more basic compact EasyShare M381 took the spotlight, but the M341 also appeared as a new offering. All three cameras have 12 megapixels.

Ricoh Releases GR Digital III

Ricoh announced a successor to its two-year-old Digital II that comes with an improved image sensor and lens, among other things. The Ricoh GR Digital III is a high-end compact digital camera that will become available in mid-August.

Panasonic Intros 3 Cameras

Panasonic announced three new digital cameras today, each stacked with 12.1 megapixels, Leica lenses, 2.7-inch LCD screens, revamped optical image stabilization system, and increased battery power. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35 takes its place as the newest ultra-zoom in its lineup while the FP8 and ZR1 each create a brand new series of digital cameras. They will show up on store shelves beginning in September.

Canon Introduces Hybrid Image Stabilizer

Canon today introduced a new Hybrid Image Stabilizer to compensate for both angular and shifting camera shake in select lenses. 

Fujifilm Ventures Into 3D Imaging

Fujifilm introduced a whole new genre of digital camera with today’s announcement of the FinePix Real 3D W1 camera. The compact camera can snap 3D images with its dual image sensors and lenses. Fujifilm also announced a 3D photo viewer and 3D printing capabilities; these and the camera will be available in September, but pricing has not yet been determined.

Fujifilm Debuts F70EXR Long Zoom Compact

Fujifilm introduced its first real compact long zoom digital camera, the FinePix F70EXR. The F70 comes with a new half-inch Super CCD EXR sensor and couples it with a stabilized 10x optical zoom lens. The new digital camera will be available next month.

Fujifilm Combines EXR Sensor with Film Sims in S200EXR

Fujifilm announced a successor to its high-zoom film-oriented S100FS digital camera today, making it the third new FinePix in recent days to carry a Super CCD EXR image sensor. The new Fujifilm FinePix S200EXR packs the same 14.3x optical zoom lens as its predecessor but adds in the same 12-megapixel image sensor that is on the F200EXR.

Olympus Releases Stylus 7010 with 7x zoom

Olympus added to its Stylus line today, introducing the 12-megapixel Stylus 7010. The Stylus 7010, like the Stylus 7000 before it, packs a 7x optical zoom lens, TruePic III image processor, and sensor-shift image stabilization into a diminutive 1-inch frame.

Olympus Adds 3 to Its Budget FE Series

Olympus will soon release a trio of digital cameras for photographers on a limited budget. The FE-5020, FE-4000 and FE-46 all have 12-megapixel sensors and 2.7-inch LCD screens. They mainly differ in lenses.
