Panasonic TS2 Goes Further Below Sea Level

The Panasonic Lumix TS2 takes the place of 2009’s rugged TS1 with more resolution and “enhanced toughness,” according to the company’s Jan. 26 press release. Last year’s camera could dip to 10 feet underwater, but the 14.1-megapixel TS2 can dive to 33 feet.

Pentax Shows Off Three New Cameras

Pentax announced the beginning of two new product lines with the unveiling of the retro-styled Optio I-10 and the compact H90. Both cameras come with 12.1 megapixels and a wide, 5x optical zoom lens. Pentax also announced the E90, a budget compact model. All three digital cameras will go on sale next month.

Sony Adds Full HD to Cyber-shots

Sony announced two compact digital cameras with full 1920 x 1080-pixel HD movie modes. The Cyber-shot HX5V and TX7 can shoot 10-megapixel still images and include TransferJet technology to wirelessly beam images to computers and other enabled devices.

Firmware Upgrade for E-P1

Olympus Unveils New Tough Camera

Olympus announced another waterproof digital camera to its “tough” lineup. The Olympus Stylus Tough-3000 is waterproof to 10 feet, shockproof from 5 feet, and freezeproof from 14 degrees Fahrenheit (-10 C). New features include HD video, art effects, and 1 GB of internal memory. The camera is set to go on sale next month for $229.
