Olympus updated the firmware on its Digital Pen E-P1 interchangeable lens camera. The version 1.2 update makes two small fixes and is only available through the included Olympus Master Software.

The Olympus E-P1’s new firmware upgrade speeds up the manual focusing process by reducing the time that the assist view displays. It also enables the “rec view” when the LCD screen’s backlight is turned off.

The retro E-P1 debuted in June 2009 as the first Micro Four Thirds interchangeable lens cameras. The camera incorporates 12.3-megapixel pictures, HD videos, a voice recorder, and plenty of effects. It offers DSLR-quality images and versatility while crammed into a compact 1.43-inch thin body.

The Olympus E-P1 retails for $799. The newer E-P2 goes for $1,099 and includes a few more accessories such as the optical viewfinder. It hasn’t required any firmware upgrades yet.
