Panasonic unveiled a brand new series of digital cameras that will sport wide-angle, long zoom lenses on compact bodies. The Lumix FH-series starts off with the 8x FH20 and 5x FH3 and FH1.
The new Lumix FH-series all share a 28mm wide angle on their lenses; the FH20 extends to an equivalent 224mm while the FH3 and FH1 extend to 140mm. All of the cameras measure less than an inch thick.
The Panasonic Lumix FH20 and FH3 come with 14.1 megapixels, while the FH1 comes with 12.1 megapixels. All three digital cameras have a 2.7-inch LCD screen with 230,000 pixels. The company claims that they will be easy to use, especially with its Intelligent Auto mode.
The Intelligent Auto mode includes a host of technology including optical image stabilization, face detection, intelligent ISO control, and an intelligent scene selector. The FH-series has a “quick setting” feature that will allow users to set frequently used settings to an easily accessible menu. The series also includes photo frame graphics to embellish images.
The three digital cameras can record 720p HD video and are compatible with the new higher capacity SDXC media in addition to the other forms of SD cards. Panasonic reports that the battery life on the FH cameras is excellent, with the FH20 reaching 300 shots per charge and the FH3 and FH1 getting 300 shots per charge.
“With the new Panasonic Lumix FH-series, consumers will be thrilled to see small, easy-to-use digital cameras that do not compromise quality or advanced features,” said David Briganti, senior product manager of imaging at Panasonic Consumer Electronics, in the Jan. 6 press release.
